Born in the USA in 1974, CrossFit has been developed as a counter measure to peoples’ natural aging process. The training gives an all-around general physical preparation for any task people need to complete in daily life.
CrossFit is highly effective because it develops cardiovascular and respiratory endurance but also agility, flexibility, equilibrium, coordination, strength, and speed. This is achieved by focusing on three basic disciplines: gymnastics and power lifting combined with high intensity. Those disciplines united are based on natural lifting-pushing-pulling-squatting combinations, helping people to work on their weaknesses or improve their strength.
CrossFit focuses on functional movements for several reasons, all of which contribute to the program’s overall effectiveness and real-world applicability. The workouts are constantly varied, by regularly introducing new exercises, intensities, and workout structures. Thus, CrossFit ensures that the body is continually challenged and stimulated, leading to more significant fitness improvements and reduced RBE (Repeated Bout Effect).
